PROJECTS
PARTICIPATORY RESTORATION OF FOREST AREAS OF "THE PEAK"
The Participatory Forest Restoration project at "The Peak" is a key initiative of the Providence Foundation, which seeks to recover and protect one of the most emblematic and vulnerable ecosystems on the island of Providence. "The Peak", the highest point on the island, is not only a symbol of the natural beauty of the archipelago, but also a crucial ecosystem that has been severely affected by deforestation and human intervention.

Supported by Fondo Acción, this project aims to restore forest cover in critical areas such as Bottom House and South West Bay, promoting reforestation with native species to ensure the preservation of local biodiversity. The participatory approach of the project has been fundamental, actively involving the local community, especially farmers through the "Dream Farm Conservation Agreement", where they work hand in hand with landowners to implement sustainable practices that favor forest regeneration.
The project not only has a significant environmental impact, but also a social one. Community participation in reforestation and constant monitoring of progress allows strategies to be adjusted according to the needs of each area, ensuring effective and sustainable restoration. In addition, food sustainability on the island is strengthened through the creation of community gardens and the use of agroforestry techniques that support both conservation and local production.
